I heard about this album, and couldn't help but think that Nas was doing whatever he could to build some kind of controversial buzz around his album. It seemed kinda pretentious to me, even coming from one of my fav MC's. But..upon checking out this video, I see alittle better where he is coming from. He's definitely not afraid to confront the complexity of Hip Hop's fanatic infatuation with the word "nigger". I've heard countless debate on the word..its pros and cons...the one thing I think we can agree on is that it is a tragic aspect of the American psyche, symbolized by the oppressed..perpetuated by the oppressor.
